ππββοΈπ£ Surf & Fishing Report π£πββοΈπ
Windy, wild, and plenty of water moving today across the island! π¬οΈπ A combo of short period swell from the SE is producing surf with most waves in the 2-3 ft range with some punchier sets pushing 3-4 ft at times. Dominant wave period is 6 seconds, keeping conditions pretty raw and fast moving. πβ‘
Winds are out of the SSE at 21 mph making for choppy, and strong sideshore/current conditions. Expect heavy drift and lots of water movement near the jetties and piers. π¬οΈπ
Tides are swinging BIG today with a topped out 2.2β high tide this morning dropping all the way to a -0.7β low tide tonight, so expect changing currents and shifting sandbars throughout the day. πβ¬οΈ
π©π© RED FLAGS FLYING FOR DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS π©π©
Please use extreme caution if entering the water today. If you get caught in a rip current β stay calm, do NOT fight it, and let it push you out before working your way sideways back in. Alert surfers or others nearby if you need help. Never swim alone in these conditions. ππΌ
π£ Fishing could still produce around the jetties, Packery Channel, and deeper guts using live shrimp, mullet, crab, and heavier rigs to hold bottom in the strong current. Expect rougher conditions but hungry fish moving with all the water action. ππ¦
