ALOHA, SURF Κ»OHANA! π€πΌ
Happy Friday, everyone! We've got some smaller easterly swell rolling into the Texas coast this morning, lighter winds, and plenty of sunshine on tap! A beautiful day to enjoy our island paradise, catch a few waves, or wet a line! πβοΈ
π SURF: Offshore seas around 2 ft today, with small knee-to-waist-high surf possible at exposed breaks. Expect shorter-period waves and some soft, uneven sections. Conditions may be a little cleaner early before the afternoon breeze picks up. Check the live cam for actual breaking-wave size!
π SWELL: E 2 ft @ 6 seconds. Short-period easterly energy continues pushing toward the Coastal Bend. Nothing huge today, but potentially a few fun little peaks!
π¨ WINDS: E 5β10 knots offshore, with coastal winds generally 5β15 mph. Light morning winds should make for more manageable conditions before some afternoon texture develops.
π€οΈ WEATHER: Mostly sunny and warm! Starting around 64Β°F this morning, with island beaches approaching 80Β°F and inland areas reaching the mid-80s. Very little chance of rain today!
π‘οΈ WATER TEMP: 75Β°F at Packery Channel. Still plenty warm for a fall session!
π£ TODAY'S TIDES β PACKERY CHANNEL
πΊ High: 6:14 AM
π» Low: 2:07 PM
π£ FISHING REPORT: Redfish, speckled trout, black drum, and pompano are all worth targeting around Packery Channel, the jetties, and nearby surf this time of year. Look for bait activity, moving water, and deeper cuts along the beach.
Live shrimp, finger mullet, cut bait, and soft plastics are good options. The falling tide could provide opportunities along channel edges and current seams. With lighter winds and smaller seas, fishing conditions should be more manageable than earlier this week. Tight lines, everyone! π£
π© BEACH SAFETY: The National Weather Service is forecasting a MODERATE RIP-CURRENT RISK today. Check the beach flags before entering the water! Rip currents remain especially dangerous near the Packery jetties and deeper channels. Never underestimate the Gulf, even on smaller surf days. Keep an eye on the kiddos and look out for one another!
