π© BEACH SAFETY ALERT: RED FLAGS FLYING!
Yesterday I helped rescue two boys who were caught in a fast-moving rip current and pulled beyond the second sandbar. Another surfer and I got the kids onto our boards and paddled them safely back to shore before additional help arrived. There were four lifeguards in their tower, and they deployed after we already had the boys secured and heading in.
This isnβt criticism of anyoneβitβs a reminder that rip currents move FAST and conditions can change in seconds.
Parents and beachgoers: when the waves are up, please donβt go beyond waist deep, especially with children. Yesterday could have ended very differently. ππ
