ππββοΈ Surf & Fishing Report β North Padre / Packery Channel π£π
Fun rideable corner action out there today! A mix of short-period SSE swell and a little N swell is producing surf in the 1β2+ ft range, with set waves pushing 3β4 ft. The dominant swell period is around 6 seconds, so expect a little wobble but definitely some fun sections if you pick the right sandbar. π€
π¨ Wind:
Recent winds have been strong and cross/sideshore from the south, averaging around 18 mph. As of 11:06 AM, winds are SSW (197Β°) at 16 mph, creating a bit of texture but still some rideable corners.
π Tides:
- Low Tide: 7:24 AM (-0.2 ft)
- High Tide: 4:14 PM (1.3 ft)
The tide is filling in through the afternoon, which could help some of the bars clean up a bit.
π‘οΈ Conditions:
- Air: 75Β°
- Water: 73Β°
π© Safety:
Red flags are flying for heavy rip currents. Thereβs a lot of water moving today. Surf with a buddy, and if you get caught in a rip current stay calm and float with itβeventually it will release and you can paddle or swim back in.
π£ Fishing Report:
Fishing is on the hook right now from the Packery jetties and Bob Hall Pier. The Sheepshead bite is going off, and anglers are pulling in some solid fish using shrimp and Fishbites. Good action if you pick the right pocket of water. π
β οΈ Weather Alert:
A big winter storm is inbound tonight. Coastal areas could see winds up to 50 mph and rapidly dropping temperatures. The surf is expected to jump way up overnight, possibly becoming huge and only rideable for experienced surfers.
